23/52 heaven on earth

I've been to a lot of Christian conferences over the years, but never was the Indian population significant, much less predominant. I think I especially loved it because it was a group that has largely clung to its roots. Many of the women were adorned in vibrantly colored saris. But more than anything, I think the emphasis on family stood out to me. Normally at events like this you see kids running around in their youth group circles. But here, you saw families-- parents, grandparents, children, aunts, uncles, you name it-- worshiping together. And especially in light of the testimonies, it was such a compelling testament to the power of the gospel. The speakers shared of the initial resistance of their parents, to a degree that many of can't even begin to imagine. A mother faints from grief. A father threatens to disown his one and only son. You can't make this stuff up. And yet this wasn't a conference filled with lone individuals. It was filled with families. Why? Because the love of Christ sustains and it perseveres.
"Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved--you and your household" Acts 16.13
